The Teachers


Sandy Adler the owner, and primary teacher at Freedom Yoga, is a certified teacher of Anusara.  She has taught meditation since 1977 and for the past twelve years has taught Anusara Yoga and meditation at the University of Oregon in Eugene.  Currently she is finishing her third year of deep study with Paul Muller Ortega and is delighted to share the wisdom of the Tantric text with you.  Her passion for life is contagous to anyone she meets.  She created this beautiful studio to give students and the community a place to nuture themselves and to release the stress of life.  "At Freedom Yoga you will learn to embody your innate goodness while being present with the responsibilities of modern life."


Michele Bulgatz is a certified Anusara Yoga Teacher. Michele has studied with John Friend since 1997 and finds Anusara Yoga to be "a rockin' place to be." She brings a love of life to her yoga teaching, embracing the philosophy of looking for the good in everything and everyone. She inspires with humor and enthusiasm helping each student to seize the moment. She is supported by her teacher John, her friends and family and her bountiful garden. Kelly Merrill is a Certified Anusara Inspired Yoga and 200HR RTY.  When Kelly is not teaching yoga you will find her hiking with her dog Finnigan Ganesh in the mountains, paddle boarding across lakes with him and all along drinking Kombucha Mama Tea!  Kelly is also a practitioner of Neelakanta Meditation studying with Sandy Adler and Paul Muller Ortega.  She has studied closely with Certified Anusara Master teachers Sandy Adler, Sianna Sherman from San Fransisco, Skeeter Tichnor from Maui and Karen Sprule-Francovich from Coeur D' Alene Idaho.  Kelly  is also the Eugene Ambassador for Kombucha Mama Tea from Bend Oregon

Class Descriptions:

Pre-Beginning students who are new to yoga or looking for a gentle, but thorough, yoga class. Meant to strengthen, align, as well as relax, the focus is on breathing, alignment and development of body/mind awareness, in a non-competitive atmosphere of acceptance.  Appropriate for students who are recovering from injuries or chronic pain; adaptations of poses for various conditions are welcomed, as well as taught.  Students must be able to sit on the floor and get up without assistance.

Beginning a beginning to yoga. we will begin where you are.

Yoga For Lunch what better way to spend your lunch time than with Stefanie doing yoga?  Get renergized and make the second half of the day feel like a walk in the park. 

Level I-II or the Active beginner intermediate Student.This class will teach handstand and backbends, but will offer a alternative to both.  This is an up tempo class that will teach you the basics of alignment and inspire you to improve your practice.

Level II-III inspire yourself to srengthen and push your practice.  This class will meet the student where they are. Muct be able to do hand stands (assisted OK) and backbend and try on different arm balances.

Meditation Sandy teaches a technique to both release the stress of life and unite your spirit with the greatness of your Being. Learn simple pranayamas, deep rest and a quiet rejuvenating meditation technique. Open to all. $5-10 Sliding Scale

Private and Therapeutic this is an hour of asana with Sandy Adler or Michele Bulgatz. You will be given asanas to strengthen and heal your individual challenges.

We would love to have you present!  The goal is to celebrate and support each other, to learn, grow, and deepen your teaching skills on all levels.


This is for students who want to become yoga teachers or teachers wanting to deepen their knowledge.  Practice various aspects of teaching yoga in a safe, supportive environment.  You are guided to find your own unique voice as a teachera nd given space to build confidence and skill over time.  You must have completed Part I (Freedom Yoga Immersion) to participate.
