"At some moment, mysteriously, we perceive something exquisite, sacred, paradoxical and deeply unexpected - something free that flashes. It's like a meteor in the sky. There is this feeling of 'Ahhhh - Aha - Wow.' Of astonishment!
Something flashes in our heart, in our mind and senses. In Sanskrit, this is called the ‘sphuratta’ - the flashing intensity and incandescent pulsation of the Light of Consciousness.
As our body-mind, our nervous system, begins to become more and more coherent through our meditation practice, more orderly and suffused deeply with the immersive value of the Absolute, we begin to get such glimpses.
We may still have a long way to go, but we start to catch these glimpses. They're astonishing and compelling. For a moment or for several minutes, something indescribably, heart-smashingly beautiful, assembles itself in our perception. We see. We taste, touch, hear and smell. We feel. We are uplifted somewhere celestial, so sacred, rich and nourishing that it dazzles us with its importance and meaningfulness.
Our meditation practice and study is most compellingly about inviting the further establishment of such a state within us, where we begin to have increasing moments of open-eyed wonder, astonishment and joy. Where we're rendered speechless, words inadequate, simply incapable of holding the gushing of bliss, love, compassion in our heart.
We begin to long for the upsurge of these glimpses and flashes. At the highest level, our mind longs for wholeness, fulfillment, clarity, perfection, sweetness and totality. We permit our mind to flow toward union with that which it most intensely longs for in the introversive journey of our meditation.”
